Michael Owen has backed Manchester United to win the Premier League clash against Hull City at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The former United striker was not impressed with the Red Devils’ performance against Arsenal last weekend, but believes that Louis van Gaal’s side have enough quality to pick up all three points against the Tigers.
“Although United won at Arsenal last weekend I wasn’t overly impressed with my former club given the Gunners could have been out of sight by halftime,” former England international Owen wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Hull looked in control of their game with Spurs until Gaston Ramirez was red-carded in the second half and former United centre-back Steve Bruce will be looking for a change of luck when he takes his side to Old Trafford.”
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: United to win and Both Teams To Score at 19/10”.
One would have to back Owen’s prediction. Hull have shown this season that they can compete with the big boys, but Steve Bruce’s side simply do not have quality that Van Gaal’s United have.
Heading into Saturday’s match, the Tigers find themselves just a point above the relegation zone in 17th, while United are five points behind defending English champions Manchester City in fourth.
Hull’s chances of an upset at Old Trafford cannot be written off just yet, but they are very slim indeed.
