Manchester City morning news: Lampard stay likely, Aguero praised

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Frank Lampard looks set to extend his stay at Manchester City.

The midfielder, on loan from New York City, has been a key squad player for the club since the start of the season.

Speculation over whether he’ll stay for the rest of the season has frequently been aired, with the latest reports suggesting he’ll stay beyond January.

The man himself has been busy praising Sergio Aguero after his heroics in the Champions League against Bayern Munich earlier this week.

Aguero has been City’s stand out attacking player this season.

“It's in his hands, it's a big call to make. Ability wise, from seeing him at close quarters, he's in that bracket. If he can carry on with this form, doing it week in and week out, which he is doing, then people will talk about him in the same breath as them (Ronaldo and Messi)” said Lampard.

Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama says he’s looking forward to facing his hero Yaya Toure.

Southampton host Manchester City this weekend in a top of the table clash that few would have predicted at the start of the season.

“It's a game I'm looking forward to because Yaya Toure will be playing and he's someone I look up to. He was one of my role models so it'll be a nice thing coming face to face with him,” said the midfielder.
