Former Arsenal attacker Paul Merson has predicted Tottenham Hotspur to lose to Everton on Sunday.
The North London have won their last two competitive fixtures and will head into the Premier League clash at White Hart Lane with confidence.
However, Merson predicts Spurs to slip up against an Everton side who also seem to have turned around their season.
“Spurs have won two away games when they should have got beat, thanks to the other team having players sent off, and then they got beaten by Stoke, so I think there are really struggling at the moment,” the 46-year-old wrote on Skysports.com.
“I watched them last week and they never looked like scoring. I wasn’t impressed with Everton last week if I’m being honest either but they won. So I fancy Everton again this week, and that’s not my Arsenal head talking, that’s my football head!”
This is the second time in a row that Merson has predicted Tottenham to slip up in the Premier League.
Ahead of last weekend’s match against Hull City at the KC Stadium, the former England international wrote: “I’m going to go 2-1 to Hull only because I have seen Tottenham recently and I think home advantage is a big thing. The KC Stadium will be rocking.”
The game in Yorkshire did finish 2-1 but in favour of Tottenham, and the North London club’s fans will certainly take a similar result against Everton.
Sunday’s match at the White Hart Lane is too close to call, but with the home crowd behind them, the Tottenham players will certainly believe that they can pick up all three points.
And prove Merson wrong… yet again.
