West Ham United midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate has hailed the performance of two of his former teammates in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Goalkeeper Silvio Proto and defender Chancel Mbemba Mangulu both were in action for Belgian giants Anderlecht, who got the better of Galatasaray 2-0 at home in Group D.
Mangulu opened the scoring for the hosts in the 44 minute and scored the second four minutes from full time at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, while Proto made some important saves.
The win was not enough for Anderlecht to book a place in the last 16 of the Champions League, but it did help Besnik Hasi’s side finish third in the group and a secure a spot in the Europa League.
Kouyate, who joined the Hammers from Anderlecht in the summer transfer window, was following the match and was delighted with the performances of Proto and Mangulu.

Kouyate could feature in the Champions League next season with West Ham given the way things are going at the moment.
Sam Allardyce’s side are currently sixth in the Premier League table with 18 points from 12 matches, just a point behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
