Daniel Crowley was excellent for the Arsenal under-19s yesterday, but his penalty was not.
Arsenal have plenty of young stars in their ranks tipped for future stardom - but perhaps none more so than Daniel Crowley.
The teenager was snapped up from Aston Villa last year and has been immediately dubbed the ‘next Jack Wilshere’ for his likeness to the England international on the football pitch - and unfortunately his propensity to get injury.
But recently he has managed to keep himself fit, has been in great form for the Arsenal youth teams, and has even been training with the first-team on occasion.
It certainly appears as though Crowley is on the brink of breaking into the Arsenal first-team.
Yesterday he was in action again for Arsenal's under-19s in the UEFA Youth League. They faced off against their Borussia Dortmund counterparts and Crowley impressed in midfield.
But while his overall game was again superb, he did have a moment he would rather forget in front of goal.
He stepped up to take a penalty for Arsenal, but blazed it horribly over the bar from 12 yards...
Luckily he was let off when Stephy Mavididi scored a crucial winner to keep Arsenal's chances of progressing to the next stage of the competition alive.
