Tottenham Hotspur defender Vlad Chiriches is on the verge of a move to Roma, according to reports in Italy.
Roma are in negotiations with Spurs over the loan of the Romanian defender and hope to have the transfer tied up in the near future.
The Italian club met with Tottenham representatives in London today to discuss the possibility of a temporary move in January.
Roma have feel that they can improve their defence and they have identified Chriches as a man who can help them close the gap on Juventus at the top of the Serie A table.
The 25-year-old has struggled to adapt to the English game since arriving last summer, and his time at White Hart Lane already looks to be heading towards an end.
The Lilywhites are keen to raise funds to enable them to bring in their transfer targets - which include Southampton duo Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez - and are prepared to lose Chiriches, as a result.
The centre-back joins the likes of Andros Townsend, Aaron Lennon, Paulinho and Moussa Dembele on the list of players who Spurs are prepared to sell in the New Year, and it seems tat he could be closest to the exit door currently.
Roma are currently in second position in the Serie A table, so it should be an attractive proposition for the player to join a title challenge given Spurs' struggles so far this campaign.
Chiriches has made just four appearances in all competitions for Mauricio Pochettino's side and will be hoping to make more an impact if he does join the Italian giants.
