Benjamin Stambouli finds the target for the first time in a competitive match for Tottenham Hotspur.

Benjamin Stambouli has scored his first competitive goal for Tottenham Hotspur this evening.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder found the target in their Europa League Group C clash against Partizan Belgrade at White Hart Lane.

Roberto Soldado latched onto Stambouli’s brilliant through-ball and shot on goal with his right foot from close range.

The ball came back off the post and fell to the Frenchman, who fired home with ease.

This is the first time that Stambouli has scored for Spurs in a competitive match, having joined the Premier League outfit from French club Montpellier in the summer transfer window.

Stambouli has been used sparingly by Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino so far this campaign, but perhaps his strike tonight will help him get into the team more regularly.

Meanwhile, Soldado had a good chance just minutes after Stambouli’s strike in the 49th minute, but he failed to get his shot past the Partizan goalkeeper.
