Paul Merson has been singing the praises of Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.
The Chile international has been the best player for the Gunners so far this season and was once again superb on Wednesday.
Sanchez scored a sensational second goal for Arsenal in their 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund at the Emirates Stadium in the Champions League.
The former Barcelona star’s overall performance was brilliant as well, leading ex-Arsenal attacker Merson to compare him with Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and former Liverpool forward Luis Suarez.
“That’s (the strike) world class, that’s Messi-like, Ronaldo-like…” he told Sky Sports. "He would walk into any football team in the world, in my opinion.
“He reminds me of Luis Suarez. He is very enthusiastic, he loves football, he is always running around, he always closes people down and he has a real hunger for the game.”
Merson is not the first former footballer tp draw comparisons between Sanchez and Suarez. Former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp made similar comments earlier this month.
“Can you really compare Alexis Sanchez and Luis Suarez?” he wrote in The Daily Mail. “The way the Chilean has started at Arsenal, it’s hard not to.
“They are both such hungry, driven players but where Sanchez has an edge is his speed. He is lightning fast. It will be interesting to see how he develops at Arsenal and where he ends up playing.”
In 11 Premier League appearances so far this season, Sanchez has scored eight goals and has created 30 chances, while having a 76% pass accuracy and a 72% shot accuracy.
In five Champions League matches, the 25-year-old has found the net three goals and has created seven chances, while having a 77% pass accuracy and a 46% shot accuracy.
