Ayoze Perez gets praised
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has been singing the praises of Ayoze Perez.
The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for the Magpies since joining them from Tenerife in the summer transfer window.
Perez has scored three goals and has created five chances in 11 Premier League appearances so far this season, while having a pass accuracy of 67% and a shot accuracy of 78%.
Pardew is full of praise for the Spain Under-21 international, but insists that the youngster still has room for improvement.
“He's got great technical ability," Newcastle’s official website quotes the Englishman as saying. "I've been fortunate enough to work with great technical players and he has that kind of technique that the top players have.
"But whether he can transfer that into a physical specimen that can deal with this division without taking away his speed and his agility - there's a balance there somewhere.
"But he has improved massively in his strength and when he gets that side of his game then we feel we might have a really good player.”
Nile Ranger on Michael Owen
The 23-year-old was on the books of Newcastle from 2008 until 2013 and played in the first team alongside former Liverpool and Manchester United star Owen.
“Newcastle gave me a big chance but I messed it up. Everyone makes mistakes in life and I was young," The Mirror quotes Ranger as saying. ”They all used to take me to one side and talk to me.
“Mo [Michael Owen] is a top, top bloke. When I was younger I thought I had it all. It would go in one ear and out the other and I wasn't really taking it in, which was silly.”
