Matt Smith set for League One football - how much does he regret leaving Leeds now?

Leeds United

The former Leeds striker is set to leave Fulham for Bristol City on loan.

Just what has happened to Fulham's Matt Smith?

In August, he was a Leeds United striker and made three appearances for the club. Granted, he only played 86 minutes of Championship football...

And yet, as Opta stats show, since joining Fulham for £500,000 on Deadline Day, Smith has played just 38 minutes - and this isn't over a period of one month, it is over a period of three.

But it doesn't end there for the 25-year-old target man. As if being sent off on his Fulham debut wasn't bad enough, Smith could now be playing League One football.

According to the Bristol Post, the striker is set for a loan move to Bristol City and, with all due respect to the club, could Smith really have imagined that when he started the season at Elland Road?

It is a real shame for the striker, who didn't appear to want to leave Leeds. How he must wish the club didn't sell him. It looks like the days of Felix Magath at Fulham are still hurting players...
