Arsenal great Martin Keown has been singing the praises of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.
The Argentina international scored a sensational hat-trick against Bayern Munich at the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League on Tuesday.
It was one of the best performances of the season anywhere in Europe, and led many pundits and former footballers to claim that Aguero is the best striker in the Premier League.
The former Atletico Madrid star has been in superb form in the league, scoring 12 goals in as many appearances, while creating 10 chances and having a 82% pass accuracy.
Like Aguero, Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and Chelsea striker Diego Costa have also been in breathtaking form so far this campaign, and it seems that Keown cannot choose among the three.
“You’d want both really!” he told The Daily Mail when asked who he would rather have in the team, Sanches or Aguero. “Sanchez has been excellent for Arsenal but if you’re talking about a pure centre forward then it has to be Aguero.
“He and Diego Costa have set new levels this season. Costa is an absolute powerhouse and can link up play or go on his own, but the service he’s getting makes life easier for him.
“Aguero is winning games by himself when he’s surviving on crumbs. In a way that almost makes him more impressive.
"He makes things happen but he does them from a long way out. He’s got such good technique and composure under pressure.
“He scored a hat-trick against the world’s best goalkeeper last night and was so cool for each finish. It was a sensational performance.
“Of course he is not in a terrible team by any means, but City are struggling for rhythm without David Silva, which makes Aguero’s achievement all the more impressive.”
