Montoya available for Liverpool move?
In recent weeks, Liverpool have been strongly linked with a move to sign Barcelona right back Martin Montoya in a bid to solve their defensive woes.
The 23-year-old came through the La Masia academy in Catalunya, but has been stuck behind Dani Alves in the pecking order at the Camp Nou for some time now.
Now, reports in Spain suggest that Montoya is ready to submit a transfer request in a bid to force a January move away from the club, and Liverpool are believed to be at the front of the queue for his signature.
Joe Allen backs under-fire boss Rodgers
Liverpool's disappointing season to date continued on Wednesday night, as they threw away a lead to draw 2-2 with Bulgarian side Ludogorets in the Champions League.
Midfielder Joe Allen was disappointed to have only come away with a point, but says under-fire boss Brendan Rodgers is coping well with the pressure.
"Brendan is handling it fine," said Allen, who worked with Rodgers at Swansea too. "He wouldn’t be Liverpool manager if he couldn’t handle it. He has the backing of all the players and he knows that."
Lawrenson slams Balotelli
Yet with just two goals to his name - none in the Premier League - Lawrenson now says that Liverpool are wasting their time with the controversial Italian.
"If you don't get the ball into him, he turns around and gesticulates. You can't do that. You can't demean your team-mates," said Lawrenson. "I don't think you will ever turn him into the player a lot of people think he can be. He's just a show pony."
