Leeds United v Derby County latest injury update

Derby County are set to have goalkeeper Lee Grant back, while Leeds United have no new injury problems ahead of tomorrow’s Championship game at Elland Road.

Jamie Ward unfit

Derby County manager Steve McLaren has said that Jamie Ward will not be part of the squad for the match against Leeds United in the Championship on Saturday.

The 28-year-old attacker has been on the sidelines with a thigh injury since October 18, when the Rams got the better of Reading 3-0 away from home.

McLaren has stated that Ward will not recover in time for Saturday’s game at Elland Road and is quoted as saying by The Derby Telegraph: “Leeds is a bit too soon for Jamie. We cannot take the risk, we do not want to lose him again.

“We will ease him back into training, which we have done today and will look to next week to get some really good work into him.”

Lee Grant set to return

One Derby star who is set to make a return is Lee Grant. The goalkeeper missed the last seven games with an ankle injury, but he trained without any problems this week.

According to The Derby Telegraph, McLaren will assess the 31-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday star today before making his decision to play him on Saturday.

Leeds all clear

Meanwhile, Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has said that there are no fresh injury concerns for him ahead of Saturday’s encounter.

Derby will head into the game as Championship leaders with 35 points from 18 matches, while Leeds are currently just two points above the relegation zone in 16th.
