Former Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Jamie Redknapp has backed Chelsea to ease to a comfortable victory over Sunderland on Saturday.
“Sunderland beat Chelsea in two out their three meetings last season – but I can’t see them shocking Jose Mourinho’s side this weekend,” Redknapp wrote on Skysports.com.
“They come up against a side with the potential to run away with the Premier League this weekend and I’m predicting a 3-1 win to Chelsea, who will have too much quality,” he added.
“An injury to someone like Costa or John Terry could alter the complexion of the game but, fully fit, this Chelsea team look magnificent.”
Playing at home will perhaps give Sunderland an advantage, but Chelsea have one of the strongest teams in Europe and will not be daunted by the opposition fans.
However, the Premier League has thrown enough surprises this season, and there could be a shock in store at the Stadium of Light.
You just never know!
