Victory over Arsenal last weekend took Manchester United back up the league table into the top four places and renew hope that they will be in Champions League action once again in the near future.
Louis van Gaal's main objective when taking over from David Moyes, who guided United to seventh last season, was always to get the club back in the top four and despite a desperately long list of injuries he has his side grinding out results.
But while the top four may be the base target one Manchester United player believes that the Premier League title is still in their sights.
Ashley Young has been speaking to Sky Sports about the current league position and United form this week and he clearly feels Van Gaal is leading them back to title contention:
"You know I think the manager has said obviously we want to break that top four. But you know players and staff at the club we want to win the league title.
"I think he [Van Gaal] has got that aura. You know he has got that presence out on the training ground and the training pitch. He believes in people, he gives you that belief and he is an honest man and he just wants everyone to go out there and do well.
"The manager wants to achieve massive things, he wants the club to get back to winning titles and we are no different to that . You know the players have bought into that philosophy since pre-season and that is exactly what everyone is doing.
"We are all pulling in the right direction, pulling in the same direction and everybody is leading that charge up the league.
He also believes that the upcoming Christmas period is when United will be at their strongest:
"I think that is when we are at our best at the turn of the year we always come strong. I am sure it is going to be a busy but good Christmas period and we look forward to that New Year."
If they continue to march up the table it will be a very Happy New Year for Ashley Young and Manchester United indeed.
