On this day: £11m Chelsea winger scores against them; Defoe agrees MLS switch

On the 26th November 2013 what were the stories that dominated the football landscape? Including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and QPR.

Let's cast our eyes back to this exact day, the 26th November 2014, but a year earlier.

What were the main tales from that day? What big events were happening in Premier League football?

Here are some of the big scoops from the 26th November 2013…

Salah settles it

A year ago today and Chelsea were defeated by FC Basel in the Champions League. It was their second defeat to the Swiss club in the Champions League that season.

Uninteresting as that may be the the goalscorer in that 1-0 victory is certainly intriguing.

Because he now plays for Chelsea.

Mohamed Salah scored the goal in the 87th minute which saw Basel win the game 1-0.

Chelsea went on to beat Liverpool to the signing of Salah in the following January. He cost the club a fee in the region of £11 million but despite a promising start is currently languishing in the shadows of the Chelsea first-team.

Jermain De-Go

A year ago today it was reported that Jermain Defoe was ready to leave Tottenham Hotspur to join Toronto FC in MLS.

It was being reported that Defoe had agreed a move to leave Tottenham for North American football despite interest from QPR and former boss Harry Redknapp.

The deal was not finalised until the 10th January 2014 and just a year down the line it looks like Defoe is on his way out of MLS after falling out of favour with the Canadian club and struggling with injury in that time.
