With the transfer window just around the corner, it's no surprise to see the rumour mill working in overdrive already - particularly for Manchester United.
Despite bringing in six players to the tune of £150m this summer, manager Louis van Gaal is still in need of more reinforcements, particularly in defence.
Yet with injuries to Daley Blind and Ander Herrera, central midfield could still be a position of concern for the Dutchman - as it has been for many years at Old Trafford.
Recent speculation has suggested that Cruzeiro's 21-year-old prodigy Lucas Silva is on the club's radar, with the Brazilian Under-23 international drawing rave reviews in South America.
Primarily a defensive midfielder, Silva has also attracted interest from Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid in recent weeks, but none have made a concrete offer to hand him a move to Europe.
Yet now, the player's agent, Luiz Rocha, has revealed that there has been contact with United over a possible deal - but that he and Cruzeiro are waiting for bids ahead of the January transfer window.
"There aren't many details," admitted Rocha. "I confirm I was contacted by people linked to Manchester United and Inter Milan. There are no official bids. We are waiting."
With links to Atletico Paranaenese striker Douglas Coutinho, it seems that United are keen on scouring Brazil for talent, and with the admission that Cruzeiro are simply waiting for offers, they could well land Silva - if they can see off the stern competition in the New Year.
