Thibaut Courtois 6/10 – Given the nod over Cech in Europe on this occasion, but had little to do on the night.
Branislav Ivanovic 7/10 – Another industrious performance from the tireless Serbian. Looked like he could go on for another 90 minutes.
Gary Cahill 7/10 – Made things look simple on the few occasions he was tested, snuffing out the slightest hint of danger.
John Terry 7.5/10 – Opened the scoring inside two minutes with a header, and continued to pose a real threat on set-pieces.
Cesar Azpilicueta 7/10 – Schalke’s Atsuto Uchida is no slouch, but the Spaniard managed to quell his influence in impressive fashion.
Nemanja Matic 710 –The perfect link between the defence and attack. He and Fabregas couldn’t complement each other better.
Cesc Fabregas 8.5/10 –Provided the assist for the opener, before going on to offer up another passing master class. That £30 million is looking more and more like a bargain.
Eden Hazard 7/10 – Not quite as active as he has been on other European nights this season, but impressive all the same. Grabbed the assist for the second and gave the Schalke defence a number of problems.
Oscar 7.5/10 – Continued his superb run of form with another dominant showing, before going off with 15 minutes left for a well-deserved break.
Willian 8.5/10 – Gave the visitors a 2-0 lead with a powerful 29th-minute strike, before setting up Drogba for the fourth 15 minutes before the end.
Diego Costa 7/10 – Posed a real threat to the Germans with his positioning, but will be disappointed not to have got on the scoresheet himself.
Dider Drogba (Costa 66) 7.5/10 –.A fine European cameo, as he scored one and then set up Ramires for the clincher.
Ramires (Oscar 75) 7/10 – Scored just three minutes after coming on to seal the 5-0 scoreline.
Andre Schurrle (Fabregas 78) 6/10 – Didn’t get enough time to impress after the tempo was slowed down.
