Blade Runner 2 will feature Harrison Ford, Ridley Scott won’t direct

Scott will produce the movie with shooting planned to commence within the next 12 months

Harrison Ford will be making a comeback for Blade Runner 2, but Ridley Scott is to hand the directorial duties over to someone else.

Once Scott’s latest movie Exodus: Gods And Kings hits cinemas next month he’ll be moving onto the film adaptation of Andy Weir’s The Martian with Matt Damon starring.

As a result of Scott’s busy schedule it has already been suggested he’ll be handing over direction of Prometheus 2 to someone else. Now it turns out he’s not going to be directing the Blade Runner sequel either.

Scott has been working to develop the film with Hampton Fancher who also co-wrote the original. "We talked at length about what it could be, and came up with a pretty strong three-act storyline", Scott said to Variety, "and it all makes sense in terms of how it relates to the first one".

He also confirmed Harrison Ford will be making a return in Blade Runner 2 although not for the entire film. "Harrison is very much part of this one, but really it's about finding him; he comes in in the third act".

While Scott won’t direct he will be producing Blade Runner 2 with shooting expected to start within the next 12 months.
