Manchester United are believed to be interested in the talented Brazilian midfielder Lucas Silva, who is currently shining for Brazilian side Cruzeiro in their pursuit of silverware in his homeland.
Back in August his agent Luis Rocha confirmed the news, suggesting that Manchester United and Inter Milan had made approaches to sign his client in the summer.
No deal ever came about and Silva is still shining in Brazil.
But since then a new rival emerged on the block in regards to his potential signature ... Real Madrid.
It is being reported in the Spanish press that Silva is being looked at by Real as a potential replacement for Sami Khedira.
The player himself recently announced a desire to play for Los Merengues and now it is reported that Real Madrid have first contact over a January deal for the player.
Diario AS reports that Real have been in touch with Cruzeiro about the player and want to sign him regardless of Sami Khedira's future - such is his talent.
They also report the fee that Cruzeiro have asked for the player.
They report that it will take a fee of €15 million to lure them into a sale, which is a €5 million increase on the previously believed asking price.
Considering AS have well placed sources in both Spanish and Brazilian football this is more than likely going to be the right figure necessary to snap up perhaps one of Brazil's most talented players this winter, or indeed summer.
Manchester United now just have to meet it and see if Cruzeiro accept their demands. Because at that price, Silva is worth a punt.
