Liverpool striker Sergi Canos showed exactly why he is rated so highly by the coaching staff at Anfield by netting a hat-trick in a 10 goal thriller with Derby County.
The Rams took the lead on four occasions but struggled to hold off an energetic Liverpool side that pressed the backline and forced errors. Ryan Kent netted a brace, adding to Canos' hat-trick, for Liverpool's five goals. While, Charles Verham, Jorna Moulton, Kellan Gordon, Offrande Zanzala and Tom Mellors were all on target for the East Midland's club.
The 17-year-old Spaniard put the Reds back on level terms three times during match, including the last goal of the game to make it 5-5. However, it was the youngster's second goal that would have pleased him the most, emphatically volleying the ball into the top right-hand corner following some exceptional passing from his teammates.
After the match, Liverpool Under-18 manager Neil Critchley unsurprisingly sung the praises of his side's attacking display but labelled the defending as woeful.
''It was great for supporters watching it but not for the coaches,'' Critchley was quoted as saying in the Liverpool Echo.
''Going forward some of our play was fantastic but as a team our defending was woeful and we have to do a lot better than that.''
