United morning news: Possible swap deal for William Carvalho; Nani praised

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Former Sporting Lisbon director Costinha believes Manchester United will already be looking at Nani in a new light following a succesful start to his loan spell in Portugal.

The winger has shone for his former club since arriving in the summer, and in quotes published by O Jogo Costinha said, “Nani is a great player who at this point should already be seen in a new light for Manchester United.”

There is no doubt the 28-year-old has seized his latest chance, scoring five goals and setting up another four in 13 appearances to date. However, there has also been a suggestion in the same newspaper that he could actually be used in a loan deal to bring William Carvalho to Old Trafford.

The defensive midfielder has long been linked with United and was believed to be one of former manager David Moyes’ prime targets.

However, Sport Witness has now picked up on claims from Portugal that Nani could remain at Sporting for the long term with United paying an additional fee to bring the young midfielder to England.
