According to a report in the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pocehttino wants the club to sign new wide-men, which is somewhat surprising given the presence of Nacer Chadli, Erik Lamela, Andros Townsend and Aaron Lennon.
However the report claims Lennon is nearing the end of his time at White Hart Lane while doubts also remain over the long-term future of Townsend.
So here we take a look at three wingers Tottenham could look to sign either in January or next summer:
Swiss international Xherdan Shaqiri has been linked with Tottenham for a while now, but then the same could be said for plenty of other clubs, too. The Bayern Munich player is a regular in the gossip columns and there is no doubt he would be a great signing for Spurs.
The only question is, if he does leave Germany, would Pochettino be able to pull off a major coup and bring the right winger to London.
Another player who has been regularly linked with Spurs, Benfica winger Nicolas Gaitan would be a smart addition, if not the electrifying one that Shaqiri would be.
The 26-year-old recently signed a new deal with the Primeira Liga champions but as we have seen many times before, that does not mean a move is beyond the realms of possibility.
Carlos Mane is the youngest player on the list but he has the potential to push Shaqiri for the title of the best in years to come.
The 20-year-old burst onto the scene for Sporting Lisbon last season and has not looked back. A player with considerable pace and plenty of tricks in his locker, he can also operate up front if required and that versatility makes him an even more attractive proposition.
A big move will happen for Mane, but can Tottenham seal the deal?
