Report: QPR take Pablo Alvarez on trial for a month

Queens Park Rangers will reportedly give free agent defender Pablo Alvarez a month to earn a place in their squad.

Queens Park Rangers have taken Pablo Alvarez on a month's trial, according to respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The defender has been a free agent since being released Catania in the summer and Harry Redknapp is keen to take a look at his qualities.

The R's are on the hunt for additions they can make which will enhance the side and Alvarez is a player who has been identified as a possible signing.

The 30-year-old is believed to be currently on a flight to England and he will begin training with QPR in the near future.

Alvarez left Catania after deciding that he wanted a fresh challenge and he will be determined to convince Redknapp that he can play a part at Loftus Road.

The defender has played in Serie A, La Liga and back in the Argentine Premier division during his career to date and he will need to prove that he is ready to play in English football immediately.

The R's have little room for players who need time to adapt and Redknapp will only be looking for players who can improve the first team immediately in January.

The London club are in serious danger of being cut adrift in the Premier League after the poor opening to the campaign which they have made.

QPR prop up the table after 12 games and they are already three points away from safety.

Redknapp's team have actually improved in recent weeks, performance wise, but their results have still been concerning and they know that they need to start collecting points more regularly than they have been so far this season.

The club's next game looks to be a crucial one when they take on Leicester City in front of their own supporters, and they will know that anything other than a three point return will be considered a failure.
