Newcastle United have received a huge boost ahead of their clash against West Ham United away from home in Premier League on Saturday.
According to London24.com, star defensive midfielder Cheick Tiote has regained full fitness and is likely to feature in the match at the Boleyn Ground.
The Ivory Coast international has been struggling with injuries for most of this campaign and has featured just four times in the league for the Magpies so far this campaign, creating four chances, winning 43% of the duels and having a pass accuracy of 83%.
However, it seems that the 28-year-old has now recovered his fitness and is set for a return.
And this spells more trouble for West Ham.
The Hammers suffered a 2-1 to defeat to Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, meaning that they have not won a single competitive match this month.
Sam Allardyce’s side are having a truly brilliant campaign, but there have been signs that things are slowing down at the moment.
On the other hand, Newcastle have started to build momentum and will head into the weekend’s match on a six-game winning run.
Five victories in their last five league matches have seen Alan Pardew’s team move up to fifth, a place and a point above West Ham.
Tiote is rated as one of the better defensive midfielders in the Premier League, and his (reported) return to fitness is certainly going to enhance Newcastle’s chances of picking up all three points in London.
Pardew may not include Tiote in his starting line-up against Newcastle, but the presence of the 28-year-old former FC Twente star on the substitutes’ bench will still be a huge boost.
