Southampton fought back from a goal down to claim a point against Aston Villa in a match which had appeared to be looking for a upset.
Gabby Agbonlahor had given Villa an early lead, only for Nathaniel Clyne to net with less than 10 minutes to go after being set up by fellow full-back Ryan Bertrand.
Southampton dominated possession in the contest, with 61 per cent, while having 15 shots to Villa's seven. Of Villa's efforts, only one was on target. The Saints also had eight corners compared to Villa's two.
A draw keeps Southampton in second position, moving away from sides below them who dropped points this weekend, but are six points behind leaders Chelsea.
Crucially they are just two ahead of Manchester City, who can leapfrog them with a victory this weekend.
After the game, manager Ronald Koeman sent a rallying message on Twitter for fans ahead of the upcoming contest.
