Aston Villa may be ruing a missed opportunity with last night's 1-1 draw with Southampton after they had taken the lead against Ronald Koeman's high-flying side.
Gabriel Agbonlahor gave the home side the lead after capitalising on some rash goalkeeping from Fraser Forster but Southampton probed their way back into the game - with right-back Nathaniel Clyne finishing off a move to salvage a point that keeps the side in second place in the Premier League ahead of a difficult encounter against Manchester City at St Mary's next week.
The Saints are currently six points behind league leaders Chelsea in the early stages of the campaign with the Blues tightening their grip on top spot and justifying their favourites tag for the league title, but Koeman is confident his side can stay in amongst the Champions League places from now until the end of the campaign.
Paul Lambert will have probably been happy with a point prior to last night's game as his side look to move away from the relegation zone in the early stages of this season - but a chance from Andreas Weimann late on in the game when the Villans were still in the lead is something which the side ultimately ended up ruing.
They're now two points clear of Leicester City who occupy the last of the relegation places, and face a huge trip to Turf Moor on Saturday to take on Burnley - where Lambert will look to build on this point. Here are few of the best images from last night's game:
