Danny Welbeck injured for Arsenal, 19-year-old or Sanogo could face Dortmund

Arsenal's failure to register Olivier Giroud for the Champions League could come back to haunt them.

Arsenal's injury problems could be about to get worse, with Danny Welbeck uncertain to face Borussia Dortmund.

The Times report: "Danny Welbeck is rated as a considerable doubt — the striker did not train yesterday because of a knee problem."

If Welbeck does not make it, the club's failure to register Olivier Giroud for the Champions League group stage will begin to look like even more of a critical oversight.

19-year-old Chuba Akpom was called into first team training on Tuesday, rather than preparing to play with the under-19s in the UEFA Youth League.

The alternative option is Yaya Sanogo, who struck twice for France under-21s last week, and started in the Champions League against Bayern Munich last season, but is till searching for his first competitive goal for the club.

Another possibility is to play Alexis Sanchez up top, or give Lukas Podolski the chance to craves, to start in his preferred position as a central striker.
