Arsenal could be about to receive the worst kind of news, relating to Jack Wilshere.
The midfielder faces the possibility of an operation to heal his injured ankle, it is being claimed.
The Times report: "Arsenal will discover in the coming days whether Jack Wilshere will need surgery that would potentially rule him out until March to repair the ankle injury he suffered in the defeat by Manchester United."
The England international was injured in the 2-1 loss at The Emirates, and looked in severe pain, yet he fact he was able to hobble off without need of a stretcher initially suggested good news.
The paper add that the best case scenario facing Wilshere if he does not require surgery, would still leave him out until January.
Wilshere's loss to injury comes at an awful time for him personally, when he was playing the best football he has since coming back from a previous ankle problem.
Arsenal are currently off the pace in the Premier League, and have been cursed by injuries all season, with Theo Walcott suffering a minor setback causing him to be unable to train earlier today.
The only good news from a health perspective is Laurent Koscienly's return to training earlier today.
