Leeds United top scorer Mirco Antenucci has given another interview in his homeland, and this time been raving about promising midfielder Alex Mowatt.
The Italian striker signed from Ternana over the summer, and has been a big hit at Elland Road, replacing Ross McCormack for a fraction of the cost.
Antenucci spoke to Calciomercato, telling them of his amazement at the 7,000 Leeds fans who travelled to Ewood Park at the weekend.
"The fans are always close and numerous, 7,000 followed us, this is not even seen in Serie A at times."
The striker was then asked who had impressed him at the club the most, other than the Italians - with Antenucci telling a different publication a week earlier that Marco Silvestri had been his standout performer.
He replied that Alex Mowatt, promoted to the first team by Neil Redfearn at the end of August, had been the biggest discovery.
"What is surprising is Alex Mowatt. He's a very skilful midfielder in front of goal, has already scored four goals.
"He's doing well, is very young and has plenty of room for improvement."
Mowatt is making Dave Hockaday look foolish for leaving him in the under-21s early this season with his performances, and is emerging as the next big academy star to break through.
If Leeds are to get anything against league leaders Derby County at the weekend, they will need both Antenucci and Mowatt to step up and deliver.
