Newcastle United are the latest club to be linked to PSV Eindhoven midfielder Memphis Depay and he seems to be a sensible target.
Depay has been in sensational form in the Eredivisie since the start of the season and looks one of the brightest talents to be coming through in the country.
The 20-year-old has notched nine times in just 13 games, despite playing in an attacking midfield role and his capture for Newcastle could be the move which pushes them on to the next level.
Furthermore, Depay has all the attributes to fit in perfectly with the system which Alan Pardew has had success with and he looks like a hugely exciting addition the club could make.
Newcastle's winning run has come about as a result of the counter-attacking style which they have adopted and it looks a tactic designed to get the best out of Depay's strengths.
The Magpies' main quality is the pace that they have going forward and Depay would add further speed to an already intimidating attacking unit.
The likes of Gabriel Obertan, Sammy Ameobi and Rolando Aarons all have the weaponry to harm sides if they leave space to attack and Depay is similar in style.
A direct runner, who has ample amounts of skill, he would unquestionably add further threat to their front-line.
If there is one area of weakness in this Newcastle side it is their lack of goalscorers, but Depay has already proven that he can find the net.
At the moment Ayoze Perez is carrying much of the burden on his shoulders, but having two regular scorers in the team would enhance their chances of achieving success this season.
The Premier League looks particularly open, with a number of the usual top-four contenders struggling for consistency, and Newcastle must seize this opportunity.
Signing Depay in January is likely to be a struggle, given the large amount of interest in him, but his arrival would be a difference making one and he could be the most important addition the side have made in recent times.
