Chelsea morning news: Striker on European challenge; Mourinho's Madrid comparison

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Chelsea

Chelsea striker Loic Remy has been speaking about the Blues’ upcoming Champions League match against Schalke on Tuesday evening.

Jose Mourinho’s side are on the verge of qualifying for the first knock-out stage but Remy knows they have a tough match ahead of them against the Bundesliga side.

In quotes published by the Daily Star, the French international said, “We have to finish the job because we know the situation.

“We can still finish third or second. This game against Schalke is really important.”

Chelsea are in the midst of an outstanding undefeated streak but they have to keep working extremely hard to ensure that continues heading into the festive period.

In other news, Mourinho has compared Chelsea’s start with a campaign he previously enjoyed at Real Madrid, when his side went on to hit a century of points in La Liga.

When asked the last time he saw a side of his start so well, Mourinho told the Mirror, “Maybe Madrid, when we got to 100 points in the league. I don’t remember but maybe that one.”

The way Chelsea are going this season, he could have a similar achievement on his CV in due course.
