Spurs star Eriksen is by far outperforming Liverpool's Coutinho

Tottenham Hotspur attacker Christian Eriksen has had a poor season by his own admission, but he has still been better than Liverpool playmaker Coutinho.

By his own admission, Christian Eriksen is having a quite unremarkable start to the season for Tottenham Hotspur.

With no assists in 11 Premier League appearances, the Danish international is yet to really hit form.

Yet his troubles pale in signficance to a player key to Liverpool's title tilt last season, who has faded even more so in 2014/15 so far.

Brazilian star Coutinho recently won a recall to his international side, but his form has not really merited it. He too has no assists in nine Premier League games, and his tally of one goal is outdone by Eriksen's three.

Christian Eriksen 82% 19 30 67 715 3 0 11

In almost every area the Dane, linked to Liverpool for so long before joining Spurs, comes out on top. Eriksen is superior in terms of chances created, shots attempted, and winning the ball back for his side.

Last season Eriksen also managed to do more than Coutinho, even with less game time, creating three more chances, providing one more assist and scoring two more goals.

Philippe Coutinho 81% 65 94 155 2,061 5 7 33

Coutinho is and has shown he is an excellent player, but his troubles this season have slipped under the radar, as Brendan Rodgers struggles to decide on his best team.

His dip isn't exclusive of course. Eriksen's failure to register a league assist will be troubling him, and both players need to lift their games.

Both play on Sunday, Eriksen's Spurs are against Hull and Coutinho's Liverpool face Crystal Palace, hoping that individually and as a team, their luck will turn.
