Daniel Agger still fosters affection for Liverpool

Brondby defender Daniel Agger seems to have retained his love for Liverpool despite leaving Anfield in the summer transfer window…

Daniel Agger may have left Liverpool in the summer transfer window, but the 29-year-old defender still seems to hold the club close to his heart.

On a day when the Reds were soundly beaten 3-1 by unfancied Crystal Palace away from home in the Premier League, the Denmark international professed his long-held love for the Merseyside outfit.

Agger joined Liverpool from Danish club Brondby back in January 2006 and went on to establish himself as one of the best centre-backs in the club’s recent history.

During his time at Anfield, the Denmark international won the League Cup and the Community Shield, and reached the final of the Champions League once.

Agger struggled under Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and also suffered with injuries, but his departure from Liverpool in the summer saw many fans raise their eyebrows and express disappointment.

One wonders whether Rodgers should have persevered with the Dane this season…
