Lewis McGugan made his debut for Sheffield Wednesday earlier today, but he was not able to help them hit the back of the net as they fought out a 0-0 draw against Huddersfield Town.
In a hotly contested Yorkshire derby, the Owls were unable to make the breakthrough and could only take a point from the John Smith's Stadium.
They have now hit the back of the net just once in their last seven matches. It means that Stuart Gray's side have only scored 12 goals in their first 18 Championship games this season.
They are currently in 13th place, but it is 11 games since their last victory and the longer this run goes on for the closer they will move towards the relegation zone.
McGugan was brought in to give them the spark that they have been missing in recent weeks, but he didn't quite have the impact desired.
Signed on loan from Watford, the attacking midfielder looked slightly short of match fitness, although there were brief moments of quality.
Wednesday were actually fairly unlucky not have broken their duck in front of goal and had plenty of chances to take the three points.
Stevie May saw one shot hit the post and the bar, Chris Maguire had a blatant penalty turned down and Royston Drenthe missed a glorious chance late on as Wednesday were left to rue a missed opportunities.
McGugan, too, will be left to reflect on where there is room to improve and he will be looking to show a better performance next weekend when Wednesday take on Wigan Athletic.
Here is the best reaction to McGugan's performance from Owls fans on social media site Twitter.
Gray got it wrong. We sign McGugan who scores goals, creates & we play him deep. He probably has never played like that in his career.#swfc— SheffWedOwl (@SheffWedOwl) November 22, 2014
Helan excellent. Palmer much improved. May just needs a goal. McGugan will become more influential. Westwood was Westwood. #swfc— Owls Alive (@OwlsAlive) November 22, 2014
Think Mcgugan can do a job for us but totally lacking width! May will have a birthday if he gets service #WAWAW— Fez Owl (0v0) (@Clashboy76) November 22, 2014
Terrible pass from McGugan. He's been very unimpressive so far. #swfc— Adrian Worton (@RedOwl14) November 22, 2014
Wish we could get McGugan on the ball half as much as Loovens, Lees and Semi! #swfc— Lee Wilkes (@WilkesyOwl) November 22, 2014
Mcgugan has had a shocker so far, clearly not match fit yet— Niall (@Dobson_dobsinho) November 22, 2014
