Steve Bruce comments on Pochettino's start at Tottenham

Hull City boss Steve Bruce believes that Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino deserves time to get things right at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotpsur manager Mauricio Pochettino has received the backing from the man who will be plotting his demise this weekend.

Hull City boss Steve Bruce may be planning to inflict further misery on Spurs by guiding his side to a victory over the Lilywhites tomorrow, but he has had some kind words for the Argentine.

Pressure has fallen on Pochettino because of Spurs' poor start to the season, which has seen them fall to 12th, but Bruce believes that the former Southampton boss will be able to turn things around if given time.

"When you have a change of coach, a new direction, it’s going to take time," Bruce explained to Hull's official site. "The manager was the best thing on the block with Southampton last season and he’ll probably be the first to say that it hasn’t gone as well as he would have liked this season.

"People would expect Tottenham to be in and around the top six with a quarter of the season gone, but you need time and his methods will eventually come through."

Pochettino's appointment had created great optimism around White Hart Lane at the start of the season, but almost all of that anticipation has been drained already.

Their existing problems have seemingly carried over into the new season and they have actually regressed under the 42-year-old's stewardship so far.

Still, the faith remains from most supporters that Pochettino is the right man to guide the squad forward in the future.

He was hugely successful when in charge at Southampton previously in England, and his tactical style won him many plaudits.

So far, Spurs' squad has struggled to adapt to his methods, but Bruce clearly feels that given time things will pan out.

Tottenham supporters will certainly be hoping that the Hull boss is right, but Pochettino will be determined not to repay his kind words by allowing the Tigers to pick up the three points this weekend.
