Leeds United defender Stephen Warnock has highlighted the ‘turning point’ in the Championship clash against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
The West Yorkshire outfit were looking like they would win the match at Ewood Park as Souleymane Doukara had given them the lead in the 33rd minute.
Although Blackburn stepped up their game and had chances in the second half, it was a defensive error from Leeds that handed them a way back into the game.
Marco Silvestri, who has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Championship so far this season, raced out of goal to clear the danger, only to bundle into Liam Cooper.
Jordan Rhodes took full advantage of that and tucked the ball home, before winning the match from the penalty spot on 88 minutes.
Former Liverpool left-back Warnock was disappointed with the 2-1 defeat and took to social networking site Twitter to express that, while also underlining the defensive mistake.
Absolutely gutted. Great support again today...thought we played well but the mistake was a huge turning point in the game.— Stephen Warnock (@StephenWarnock3) November 22, 2014
The defeat means that Leeds are now 16th in the Championship table with 20 points from 18 matches, just two points above the relegation zone.
