Manchester United's defence will prove their downfall against Arsenal, believes former Gunner Paul Merson.
The Red Devils have been struggling with injuries, as have Arsene Wenger's side - but the SkySports pundit believes United's problems are more glaring.
They had hoped to have Phil Jones and Rafael da Silva return to the side, but manager Louis van Gaal confirmed in his press conference they will miss out.
Merson said in his weekly predictions column: "This is a big game. It could end up being a shootout if I’m being honest.
"Both sets of forwards will be licking their licks and will fancy scoring and both teams going forward are as good as anybody in the Premier League. It’s at the back where the game will be decided.
"I think Arsenal will just win this one 2-1. I think they have to win. With United being away from home and having a lot more injuries I think it’s more important that Arsenal win this game."
Another factor to back Merson's assertion, is that Arsenal are unbeaten in five home games this season in the Premier League.
Manchester United have one of the worst away records, not only have they not won in five matches on the road - they have picked up only three points of a possible 15.
While they have a good record against the Gunners, it will be a tough ask based on current form and personnel for them to pull off a result.
