Michael Owen has backed Mario Balotelli to score for Liverpool against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.
The Italy international has yet to find the net for the Reds in the Premier League this season, having made nine appearances in the competition since his £16 million move from AC Milan in the summer transfer window.
Former Manchester City star Balotelli has been struggling for form all season, but Owen believes that he will score against Palace.
“The Reds will step out at Selhurst Park on Sunday well aware that the corresponding fixture last season saw them surrender a three goal lead in the last fifteen minutes and hand the title to Manchester City,” the former Liverpool striker wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Brendan Rodgers will be disappointed that Daniel Sturridge is still out with a recurring calf injury but I fancy that now is the time for Mario Balotelli to break his Liverpool duck.”
Liverpool will head into Sunday’s game placed 11th in the Premier League table with 14 points from 11 matches, just four points above the relegation zone and five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.
