Blackburn Rovers came from behind to get the better of Leeds United 2-1 at Ewood Park in the Championship on Saturday.
The first chance of the game fell to Blackburn’s Ben Marshall, who shot wide from outside the box after receiving a pass from Grant Hanley.
Tom Cairney came closer for the hosts on 17 minutes when he hit the Whites' crossbar with a left-footed shot from inside the box after being teed up by Rudy Gestede.
Marshall and Grant Hanley had chances in quick succession for Rovers, but it was Leeds who took the lead in the 33rd minute through Souleymane Doukara from a corner.
Gestede came close to equalising just two minutes later when he headed Markus Olsson’s cross wide, before Jason Pearce failed to turn in Adryan’s delivery from close range for Leeds.
Leeds could have doubled their advantage just seconds into the restart when Lewis Cook shot on goal from outside the box, but his brilliant attempt was saved.
Alex Mowatt had a chance of his own on 53 minutes thanks to a good pass from Doukara, before Rovers star Jordan Rhodes saw his shot saved.
Blackburn stepped up their game as the second half progressed and restored parity on 71 minutes, former Huddersfield Town striker Rhodes finding the target from close range with a right-footed shot.
The hosts suffered a setback in their quest to complete the comeback on 82 minutes when Cairney was sent off for a second bookable offence.
But Rovers eventually scored the winning goal two minutes from full time. Sam Byram brought down Luke Varney inside the Leeds penalty box, and Rhodes slotted home the penalty with ease.
