'Has to be more clinical' - Rio Ferdinand critical of Jack Wilshere on Twitter

Rio Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand says Wilshere must score more goals for Arsenal.

This summer Manchester United lost three of their most experienced defenders in the form of Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic and Patrice Evra - there is no doubt who has been the most media savvy since.

Ferdinand is often seen giving his views on TV or on social media, today he was more than keen to do just that as his former team were in action.

Manchester United faced Arsenal at The Emirates in the Premier League with a depleted side. But it was the performance of an Arsenal player that truly caught his eye.

Jack Wilshere has been in terrific form recently for both club and country. Most of those great performances have been in the deep midfield role, today he was instead allowed to roam forward - which he as happy to do.

He should have scored a goal.

Wilshere capitalised on slack United defending to run clear through on goal. But faced by perhaps Manchester United's most in form player in David De Gea he failed, hitting his shot straight at the stopper.

Which prompted this response about the Arsenal star from Rio Ferdinand:

You have to say, Rio is right.

The goal return from Wilshere is simply not good enough for a man of his talents and if he is to fully become the world class player he has long been tipped to become then goals must soon flow.
