Chelsea have plenty of young players out on loan at various clubs across Europe at the moment. But not many of those players will have older brothers currently in the Chelsea first-team.
Thorgan Hazard however does.
The younger brother of Eden has impressed for the past two seasons out on loan with Belgian side Zulte Waregem.
He won countless awards and his first international call-up during his time in the Belgian Pro League. With first-team opportunities at Chelsea unlikely he was made available for loan again this summer.
In the end Borussia Monchengladbach were the lucky recipients of the talented attacking midfielder. Gladbach, who are having an excellent season, are using Hazard sporadically but are still clearly impressed with his performances.
Sporting director Max Eberl has made it clear that he wants to keep Hazard on board for another season:
"He is a boy with great potential. We are 100 percent sure of him. Already he has made great progress.
"We need good players for our future. A loan, if only for a year, is a legitimate way to sign a player that you do not get otherwise."
"We want to sign Thorgan for Gladbach [for more than a year]."
Chelsea are unlikely to commit to anything now, but considering their already plentiful options in this position another season in the Bundesliga might not be the worse idea for their talented sibling of a current star.
