PSV Eindhoven ace Zakaria Bakkali has agreed to join Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window, reports in Belgium claim.
The Belgian youngster – dubbed the next Eden Hazard – has long been linked with a move away from the Dutch club as a result of a number of impressive performances last season.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea are said to be among those monitoring his situation, and speculation of an imminent exit increased last month after PSV’s sporting director admitted his side were open to offers.
The Premier League trio are renowned for signing up young talent, and this season has proven that both the Gunners and the Reds aren’t afraid to place their trust in the potential stars of the future.
According to reports in the Belgian publication RTBF, however, Bakkali’s future destination won’t be in England as the paper claims that the 18-year-old has already agreed to join Atletico Madrid in January.
“The player will soon see the end of his ordeal as one of his relatives told us that Bakkali will sign a contract with Atletico Madrid. He will be transferred to Lille on loan from January 2015,” the report states.
Bakkali’s contract at PSV expires in June 2015, and it is expected that Los Colchoneros will end up paying around a bargain €3 million fee for his services.
Last season, he scored three goals in 16 league appearances and has since been tipped to go on to big things in the future.
