Arsenal player ratings vs Manchester United - Ramsey struggles in Gunners loss

Alex Oxlade Chamberlain

Arsenal lost 2-1 against Manchester United today, but how did Arsene Wenger's side fare individually against the Red Devils?

Wojciech Szczesny 5 - Comically bad goalkeeping for United's opening goal, and the injury he sustained in the clash with Kieran Gibbs led to his substitution.

Calum Chambers 7 - had a few good surges forward from right back, linking up well with Alex Oxlade-Chamberalin and looked more comfortable in the position than he did against Swansea a fortnight ago.

Per Mertesacker 6 - lack of pace exposed again, and was woefully out of position as United countered to score the second goal.

Nacho Monreal 6 - marginally better than Mertesacker, but actually looks to be slightly growing in confidence as a makeshift centre back. Left to deal with Di Maria and Rooney on his own for the winner.

Kieran Gibbs 6 - another decent display from Gibbs, but his game will be remembered for the calamitous error with Szczesny which led to United's opener.

Mikel Arteta 7 - steady performance, used the ball well and his pass to Giroud for Arsenal's consolation was superb. One of his better displays of recent times.

Aaron Ramsey 5 - What has happened to the Welshman? Looks a shadow of the player from last season, before being substituted with 15 minutes to play for Giroud.

Jack Wilshere 7 - spiky and energetic, Wilshere fared well before being substituted ten minutes into the second half with the second half. On current form, that's a huge blow for Arsenal.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 8 - he and Chambers were a dynamic duo down the right, and Oxlade-Chamberlain's driving runs and energy in the final third lasted until the final whistle.

Alexis Sanchez 7 - Huffed and puffed without much luck, but was always looking to unlock the United defence with skill and movement.

Danny Welbeck 6 - saw an early chance go begging, and whilst he was full of running in the channels and at the United back line, he didn't get much joy out of his former club.

Subs:

Damian Martinez 6 - didn't have a great deal to do except collect Wayne Rooney's deft chip out of the net.

Santi Cazorla 5 - still looks totally devoid of confidence in an Arsenal shirt, and looked a yard off the pace when he came on.

Olivier Giroud 7 - what a return to action for the Frenchman. Wasn't on the pitch long but gave Arsenal hope with a stunning left footed finish.
