Robbie Savage: Van Gaal should be ashamed of his away record - and he won't beat Arsenal

The former Premier League midfielder does not see Manchester United improving on their 'diabolical' away record this weekend.

After two weeks of sparse football, where international friendlies have taken over the sporting schedule, it is good to know the Premier League is back this weekend.

And it is even better to know that Arsenal hosting Manchester United is the headline game that will welcome us all back into action on Saturday evening.

Arsene Wenger's men will face Louis van Gaal's charges at the Emirates Stadium - but BBC Sport pundit Robbie Savage feels there is only one likely winner this weekend: Arsenal.

According to the Welshman, Van Gaal should be 'ashamed' of a 'diabolical' away record (United are yet to win away from home this season), with the Gunners being his favourites to win the Premier League clash.

"Here we are, more than three months into the campaign, and it is shocking that a team of Man United’s pedigree has yet to win away from home this season - in any competition," Savage wrote in his weekly column for the Daily Mirror.

"That is absolutely diabolical. Van Gaal should be ashamed of United’s away record - and I don’t see them breaking their duck at Arsenal.

"Admittedly, United have severe injury problems but I look at both squads now and wonder how on earth they are going to keep a clean sheet."

Ahead of Saturday's fixture, Arsenal currently sit sixth in the league standings, with United one place further back in seventh.
