Newcastle United prospect Callum Roberts says that he is 'buzzing' to have been included in the side's first-team squad against Queens Park Rangers tomorrow.
The youngster showed his inexperience by taking to social media site Twitter to state that he was in the Newcastle team, before quickly removing the tweet.
It did not stop the congratulatory tweets coming, though, and Newcastle fans are generally excited to see another youngster coming through into their first-team.
"@Calroberts_: Absolutely buzzing to be in the first team squad tomorrow against QPR" Well deserved!— Newcastle aways (@nufcawaytickets) November 21, 2014
Roberts is likely to be on the substitutes' bench for the match, but it is still a remarkable achievement for someone of his age to have broken through.
At 17-years-old, he still has plenty to learn, but his promise has clearly been identified by the backroom staff and he will be looking to stay in the first-team fold now.
Alan Pardew has already commented on the importance of utilising the club's academy system better than they have in the past and it seems that he is going to be true to his word.
Already Rolando Aarons and Adam Armstrong have been handed first-team opportunities this season and it seems that Roberts could follow in their footsteps.
Roberts is a winger who has been tipped for greatness because of his ability to take on defenders and his eye for goal.
He joins a Newcastle squad full of confidence and they will be looking to extend their winning streak to six on Saturday.
