Tottenham latest, Pochettino 'happy' with Vertonghen, Dier looks for momentum

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Friday evening.

Tottenham Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino has said he is happy with defender Jan Vertonghen after reports this week linked with the Belgian defender with a move to Manchester United - with some suggestions that he may not be Pochettino's preferred choice in the back four.

Despite it being over a month until the transfer window re-opens, there has been a lot of speculation of potential ins and outs at Tottenham.

Pochettino told a news conference ahead of this weekend's trip to Hull City: "I am happy with Jan, for us he's an important player.. We're in three competitions, we change the team a lot."

After a difficult start to the season, Pochettino is quoted in the Daily Mail saying he has the full support of the Tottenham hierachy as he tries to get Tottenham playing the way he wants them to.

"I have a chat every day with (chairman) Daniel (Levy) on the training ground, that is normal. I understand football, but I always feel the support from him and the club.

"This is important for me, because the people want the best for the club."

Defender Eric Dier is hoping the side can build some momentum starting with Sunday's trip to the KC Stadium where they take on Hull City.

He told the Tottenham website: “We need to build some momentum and rhythm. Obviously the last result was a while ago but it's still fresh in everyone's minds, so we just want to get back to winning ways.”
