A selection of the latest stories involving Liverpool Football Club this Friday morning.
Liverpool have launched an investigation into the injuries that Daniel Sturridge keeps sustaining - after his latest thigh problem is anticipated to keep him sidelined for six weeks.
Sturridge has suffered three injuries so far this season, and as a result has only played three games for the Reds this term.
Reds' boss Brendan Rodgers is determined to get to the bottom of why the 25-year-old keeps breaking down, and told of just how his latest injury occurred.
He's quoted in several newspapers, saying: “It happened in a session and it was quite innocuous. He did it when he just flicked the ball, it wasn’t a shot or anything that looked serious.
“But obviously he felt the pain and then when the medical team told me the next day after the scan it was disappointing.
“Whether Daniel needs to see a specialist is something that the medical team are looking into.
“I think that’s his ninth injury on that thigh from previous clubs and here so there is an issue there somewhere."
Kelly, whose Crystal Palace side will take on the Reds this weekend, said any loyal supporter knows the Northern Irishman is the right man to turn things around.
He said: “I don’t think there’s anyone who could do a better job than Brendan and his backroom staff.
“All teams go through periods like this. They have struggled to score goals this season.
“Liverpool still have a massive chance to get into the top four and they could still make it out of their Champions League group as well.”
Lucas Leiva's agent has suggested that he could leave the club in January to link up with former boss Rafa Benitez at Napoli.
The Brazilian has fallen down the midfield pecking order at Anfield, and Goal have picked up on comments made by his agent in the Italian press.
Henrique Coelho said: "Lucas likes him a lot.
"After all, the two know each other well from when the Spaniard was coaching Liverpool."
