Eric Dier reveals Tottenham's biggest priority against Hull City

Spurs Santa

The Spurs defender admits there is one thing that will be weighing on his side's mind more than anything else this weekend.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier is targeting a clean sheet against Hull City.

The 20-year-old, who is naturally a centre-back but has played the majority of his football down the right-hand side so far this Premier League season, believes not conceding is his side's biggest priority when they visit the Tigers on Sunday.

And Dier believes a clean sheet can help build momentum as Tottenham look to bounce back from three defeats in their last four league fixtures.

“A clean sheet is a priority in every game so hopefully we can secure one at Hull,” Dier told Tottenham's official website.

“I've watched games of theirs over the season and I'm sure it'll be a difficult test.

“We need to build some momentum and rhythm. Obviously the last result was a while ago but it's still fresh in everyone's minds, so we just want to get back to winning ways.”

  Clean SheetsAppearances
Tottenham 3 11
C. Palace 2 11
Liverpool 2 11
QPR 2 11
Stoke 2 11
Sunderland 2 11
West Ham 2 11
Leicester 1 11

As Opta stats show, Spurs can certainly improve on their clean-sheet tally, having kept less than half the clean sheets of boss Mauricio Pochettino's former side Southampton.

Tottenham's total of three leaves them in the bottom half of the division, although that does not tell the full story. One more clean sheet would put them joint-third in that particular table.

What better incentive, then, to concede zero against Hull?
