Croatian with 27 goals in 19 games linked with Chelsea move

Atalanta general manager Pierpaolo Marino told Sportitalia that Croatian international Andrej Kramaric could sign for Chelsea

According to Pierpaolo Marino of Atalanta, as quoted on TuttoMercatoWeb, Chelsea are on the verge of signing highly-rated Croatian international Andrej Kramaric.

The 23-year-old Rijeka striker has been in untouchable form this season, scoring 27 goals in 19 games for both club and country, without going longer than two matches without a goal.

In fact, in 2014, the striker dubbed as the Croatian Inzaghi has scored a jaw-dropping 35 goals in 26 games, which include matches at both international and European level.

Kramaric netted a 13-minute hat-trick against Feynoord in the Europa League in October, perhaps the biggest test of his quality to date at club level. However, earlier this month, he made a new seasonal highlight by scoring five goals in a 6-0 win over Lokomotiva Zagreb.

The impressive frontman is thought to have a release clause of less than £4 million, making him the perfect striker to gamble on, and Chelsea reportedly have took up that option.

Although, he will do well to displace Diego Costa when he is 100% fit, if he can take to the Premier League like he has to international and European standard football then he will more than able hold his own as a competent back-up to the Spanish international.

Tottenham were also said to be interested in the striker, among others, so Chelsea will have done well to grab his signature, especially as they couldn't guarantee him first-team football straight away.

However, at 23, he has a lot of time to progress further and training against the likes of Gary Cahill, John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic will hopefully be just what he needs for the next step up even further.
